One of 38 Coronation Pacifics built by the LMS. No. 46229 was another Pacific bought by Butlin’s in the early 1960s and destined for Minehead.
Fortunately, it was acquired by the National Railway Museum and returned to steam and main line condition in the early 1980s. We follow its test runs following its second overhaul in 1990 and view the magnificent pacific at work over such routes as the Settle-Carlisle, North Wales to Holyhead and Scarborough plus out of Paddington in London.
