Preston To Blackpool and Return
We board the cab of a Virgin Trains HST No. 43078 for the
11.41 to Blackpool North and return at 13.06.It is a lovely day on 9th May 2003 when we depart from Preston’s Platform 3 and soon afterwards bear left at Fylde Junction. We cross the viaduct at Tulketh and pass through Salwick Station before Kirkham South Junction is approached and moments later
pass Kirkham & Wesham Station. Following Kirkham North Junction we pass through Poulton-Le-
Fylde and Layton stations before getting a glimpse of Blackpool No. 1 signal box followed by No. 2 signal box and views of Blackpool Tower ahead. We pull into Platform 3 at 12.05.
The service has a layover of an hour here before returning to Preston via the same route.
