Ipswich to Peterborough Cab Ride

This Cab Ride was recorded from the cab of Anglia Railways Sprinter 150229 on 3rd September 2001.

Our full journey time was increased by an hour and ten minutes due to the failure of a Class 86 locomotive in Stowmarket Station, although we do not extend this DVD to cover that period. After departing from Ipswich we join the main line towards Norwich at East Suffolk Junction. We run through Needham Market and then get stopped at a red light outside Stowmarket because of the loco failure there. We eventually proceed to Stowmarket Station and then continue to Haughley Junction and pass through Elmswell and Thurston before stopping at Bury St. Edmunds. We then pass Kennet and at Chippenham Junction we head for Ely Dock Junction. We stop at Ely and then progress to Ely North Junction and on through Manea before calling at March and Whittlesea. We pass by the eastern end of the Nene Valley preserved railway and join the East Coast Main Line at Crescent Junction before pulling into Peterborough Station.
