Cab Ride No 13 – Crewe to Holyhead

For the dvd, Cab Ride No.13, on the 6th May 1987, just before the introduction of the new BR timetables which heralded the Sprinter takeover of the Trans-Pennine services over the north Wales line, we travelled in the cab of 47476 from Crewe to Holyhead at the head of the 09.48 train.

This train started from Crewe and the locomotive and coaches formed the return service at 13.15 from Holyhead to Euston. From Crewe to Chester John Adams accompanied us and Rod Leith from Chester was our Traction Inspector throughout the journey. Vincent Williams of Holyhead depot was our driver.
