A celebration of twenty years in preservation, including a look back at the last years in British Rail’s operation of this one-time Southern byway which now forms one of the most popular attractions in the County of Hampshire.
In this dvd we discover rare archive film remaining of steam services on the line, plus footage of the final years of DEMU trains until closure in February 1973.
Film sequences from twenty years ago illustrate the early years of preservation, including the re-opening day of 30th April 1977. Altogether a feast of archive film.

Swanage Railway News Special – Flying Scotsman

Background history of the world’s most famous locomotive covering its early times in the 1920s and 1930s from rare British Pathe news films through to its operation following purchase by Alan Pegler in 1963 and various other owners until purchased by the National Collection in 2004. We see the locomotive operating following its overhaul in 2016 and running-in.
We end with the visit of Flying Scotsman to the Swanage Railway in 2019 with many scenes of it operating and in static display at Corfe castle station.
