Opening Scene: 2857 At Newport with the goods train.

Cab Ride – King’s Cross to York: The view from the cab of class 47, 47517, on 23rd September 1985 of the East Coast Main Line from King’s Cross to York. Featuring the East Coast Main Line during a period of transition, as the wires go up in September 1985. With wires in some parts of the southern section, with electrification having commenced and will prove to be an historical record in time to come!
Colour-Rail: A colour slide presentation of steam through the years.
Preservation – The Dart Valley Railway: Set in glorious sunny (!) Devon, the Dart Valley was one of the earliest preservation projects. We view it in the summer of 1985 as one of its objectives is at last met – running into Totnes station. Two Castles run through Totnes again (GW150) and the DVR runs trains into the station behind 4555. Then a comprehensive view of this early preservation project, with 1638 and 4555.
Archive Film: ‘Roundabout 60’ – Steam workings in the heyday of steam from 1958 to 1962 by Patrick Whitehouse and John Adams (courtesy of Stirling Video). Including L&Y 2-4-2Ts and 0-6-0s, T9 30338, a super D over the Central Wales line and scenes on the Lickey Incline.
News: BR in Summer 1985 – 46229s last run on the S&C, 3440s first run, to South Wales, 34092 on the Cumbrian Coast and 4498, 4771s return 777 on the SSE, Laira Open Day, new Met-Cam Class 151, Chocolate and Cream DMUs, Class 20s on passenger services, HSTs record run. 75069 near Swindon, 7029 on the Royal Albert Bridge.
