A new DVD documentary telling the whole story of England’s most famous railway.
This 90-minute DVD covers the building of the line in the 1870s, the operation of the railway through the years to near closure in the 1980s. A unique survey of the line includes the stations and structures throughout the 72-mile long railway. Interviews with the key people involved with the rescue of the railway in the 1980s and those who have overseen the virtual complete renovation of the track and stations in the 21st century which has allowed passenger and freight traffic to boom.

Somerset. From the last days in BR ownership and the transfer to the
preservation era, we see rare films from local archives showing the beginnings of the
longest preserved line in the UK. We examine the line in detail and its locomotives used
between Bishops Lydeard in the east right through to Minehead positioned on the
Bristol Channel. A full array of locomotives including main line visitors over the years
right up to date. We see overhauls taking place in the works at Minehead and the

A 1000-piece jigsaw from a painting by Malcolm Root who specialises in heritage railway subjects. This jigsaw depicts Battle of Britain Class No. 34072 257 Squadron alongside the coaling stage at Eastleigh Depot in the mid 1960s. The locomotive is in operational service on the Swanage Railway following restoration from Barry scrapyard condition by Southern Locomotives Ltd.
