Weymouth & Portland In The Past DVD
May 1, 2024The seaside town of Weymouth grew famous following its royal connection at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. King George III used to holiday in the town every year so that he could dip his feet into the fresh waters of Weymouth Bay. Since those days Weymouth became a popular seaside resort for the Victorians and the town has never looked back since.
The harbour area at Weymouth has always been a crucial part of the town and with the Great Western Railway arriving in 1857, a connection to London brought many extra people and trade for the port from the Channel Islands.
This illustrated guide book shows the many facets of the town, including the harbour, the quay tramway, the beaches, streets, main attractions to visit and a street map.
