Contents: Opening Scene: M7 30053 plus two ‘Queen Mary’ vans on the main line.
South Eastern Steam: The story of Steam from Hastings to Ashford with 75069 and 34027, together with the historic runs up the third rail main line to London Bridge, including many scenes at the capital terminus.
Clerestory Story: The South Devon Railway of today recreated the historic turn of the century by running City of Truro with the clerestory coaches on one remarkable day in June. Llangollen Gala: This progressive railway has extended yet again, to Glyndyfrdwy. Its summer gala saw a variety of trains over the whole line, set alongside the River Dee, with Foxcote Manor, a Jinty, a Prairie and visiting P3 0-6-0 on a goods train.
Main Line Steam: What a feast! May, in particular, was a very active month for main line steam and we see 44932 and 67621 on LT metals, 3440s last run, 6024 and 5029, 5407, 4472, 4771, 60009, 71000, 48151, 80080 and 60532 – thirteen locos at work in five weeks, as well as the Southern Steam engines! Who said there is a recession?!
Scottish Indian Summer: There has been a major revival of ‘real’ trains in Scotland, with locomotives hauling coaches again! We witness 37s, 47s and 26s working trains to Fort William, Kyle of Lochalsh, Inverness, Aberdeen and Edinburgh, as well as the changes to sleepers and the introductions of a stagecoach on rails.
Cab Ride – Settle to Carlisle: By special request we bring you the return of an S&C cab ride – this time going north. Here is the opportunity to see some of those photographic locations from the driver’s viewpoint!
BR Newslines: 50s in decline, including last scheduled passenger trains, 31s on passenger turns, the French Portal of the Channel Tunnel, 33114 in NSE, Networkers at Paddington, Ravenscraig closure, Manchester Trams in the city, 37s on special work, etc.
South Western Steam: The second Network special programme, with 30053/673, 34027/28, 75069 and 777, from Eastleigh works to Salisbury and Exeter featuring the M7 on the main line, as well as steam on Honiton Bank once again! It is all here!
Cover Photo: Southern Steam! The newly restored M7 30053 and Standard Class 4 75069 await duties in Eastleigh Works Yard on 21 June 1992.
